The Freedom Initiative
THE FREEDOM INITIATIVE
Through The Freedom Initiative, JOY International works to strengthen trafficking prevention, aftercare, and investigative rescue teams through training trips, missions teams, and ongoing mentorship support. Our missions teams go to support current work being done by partners to prevent trafficking, and our training teams actively work to support the staff of aftercare homes, children’s homes, prevention programs, and investigative rescue teams through trainings and retreats.
The prevention, freedom, healing, and empowerment pillars are all represented in the work accomplished through The Freedom Initiative.
THE
Freedom Collective
The Freedom Collective is an online support network where international leaders from anti-trafficking safe homes and prevention programs come together to pray for and encourage each other while sharing resources and ideas to strengthen their programs.
Hosted by JOY International, the Freedom Collective provides prayer, community support, education on topics for personal and organizational growth, and training resources from experts in relevant fields such as counseling and therapy.
The Freedom Collective currently supports leaders in Ethiopia, Nepal, and Belize, and Eswatini.
investigative & RESCUE training
In collaboration with our partners at The Asservo Project, JOY International provides training to police and anti-trafficking investigation teams internationally. Trainings can and have consisted of information and techniques on self-defense, surveillance, counter-surveillance, investigation techniques, cyber training, interviewing, and setting standards of operations and procedures. The goals of the trainings are to equip police and investigation and rescue teams to be able to perform more rescues that are done in a quality way, where the survivors are cared for well, and where traffickers and/or buyers are arrested and charged for their crimes. We do not work with or sanction any sort of rescue or recovery work that does not work with the local police authority for every operation.
PARTNER training & retreats
JOY International invites teams of highly trained experts in their particular field to join us on the field to support, enrich, and strengthen ongoing prevention and anti-trafficking work. Training teams teach various topics based on the needs of the groups we are training but generally focus on topics such as trauma-informed care, staff self-care, and tools for helping survivors heal and thrive. Retreats are offered as times of enrichment; pouring into the staff of partner NGOs to give them a much-needed time of rest, refreshment, and healing for themselves. The goal of trainings and retreats is to equip the staff of international NGOs with relevant tools to help them help their clients, but also ensure that the staff themselves are loved on and poured into. We believe that by supporting, equipping, and loving staff, that they will be able to offer the same support to the survivors they serve.
